Sunday May 22nd 2011 — a real Hyderabadi Hero
Think call center and an Indian on the other end telling you their name is John or Bob, while speaking with such a thick Indian accent, you are not sure what they are saying at all. That’s Hyderabad…. the ”Silicon Valley” of India, the hub of “offshoring”, and exactly where my family is from.
My parents have aaaalways wanted me to end up with a Hyderabadi, but I have to admit… I have been hard pressed to find an attractive man anywhere in or from the homeland. I do think the boys in my family (my cousins) are cool and attractive, but I am not into the whole “marry your cousin” thing. I had pretty much resided to the fact that a Hyderabadi is not an option… then I met Bachelor #2.
He is a good-looking man. Funny, successful and Hyderabadi. I met him out to watch a Bulls playoff game, and it was fun. Correction, it was fun enough, and the pure shock that I thought he was attractive, led me to agree to date #2.
We made plans for a Friday night. He paid close attention to my match.com profile, and made reservations at one of my favorite places… Le Colonial. (ps- I ended up with the same server I had from a couple weeks ago, when I was there with Halfzie- hilarious!) We talked about a lot of things at dinner. He actually had been married – twice. He went thru his decision-making process on both marriages, and I listened. By the time dinner was over, I had downed 2 thai coffees, and was still yawning… not a great sign.
I get calls/texts from him daily. He has helped me with a couple of music/technology projects… and is honestly one of the nicest men I have ever come in contact with. He asked me out again.. for the next Friday night. I couldn’t say no.
He sounds like a cool guy. Hope you have a good time!
